April 24

Our Week in Review

Monday - The Kindergarten Roundup was a successful outing. It’s hard to believe the end of this year is coming so quickly and that this class will soon advance to first grade.

Tuesday – We began a new book reviewing vowel sounds and rhyming words. We will finish it on Friday and look forward to sharing it with you! I love watching the art skills mature as the children grow.

Wednesday – Celebrating Earth Day was the theme of today. Learning about recycling, reducing, and reusing was taken to heart. The children told how they would help our world by shutting off water while brushing their teeth, recycling cans and plastic, turning off the television when leaving the room, and not wasting paper towels. We began a class book telling of our goals. We discovered how polluted lakes hurt plants and animals from our science experiment.

Thursday - We took part in the statewide tornado drill. The children had fun producing a tornado by twirling water in a bottle to make a funnel. Graphing the weather and then being a weather reporter was part of our math class today. I am so impressed how well the students can compare the totals. Vocabulary words used include most, least, equal, fewest, less, and how many more. Using a thermometer to test for hot and cold water was an exciting science experiment for the children today.

Friday- We end the week by making a math book practicing our subtraction skills.
