April 13 – April 17

Finally spring is here! Gone are the boots, mittens, snow pants and winter coats. Getting ready for outdoors only takes minutes. The children come in with smiling faces and thoughts of warm days ahead. Spring is blooming in our classroom too. We are creating an acrostic poem telling of the joys of this season. Learning about the changes that take place during this wonderful time of year will be our new theme. This week we will focus on weather, as we create a colorful book to share with you. The children enjoy all the interesting science activities that go along with this unit. Next week we will celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday as we continue this unit.

Spring is a very busy season for the children as we approach the end of the school year. Here is a list of dates to mark on your calendar.

Monday, April 20 – No school for our current kindergarteners. Mrs. Erickson and I will be having the Kindergarten Round-Up with the 2009-2010 students.

Wednesday, April 22 – Earth Day/Arbor Day Projects

Community tornado drill

April 30 – Our Kindergarten Music Program will be at 1:30 in the music room. Feel free to invite grandmas and grandpas, uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters to this wonderful event.

Wednesday, May 27 - We will be having a field trip and picnic. We will be going to St. William’s Living Center to do an activity with the residents there. Next we will head to the park for lunch and some play. After that we travel to the Douglas County Library for a story, then end the day by bowling at Garden Center Bowling.

May 29 – Our last day.

Wow! The rest of the year will fly by.

Have a great week.
