A PEEK AT OUR WEEK
JANUARY 17-20
SPECIAL DATES
• No school for students Monday, January 23
The story, THE MITTEN by Jan Brett will be our focus for this week. We will chart the characters, setting, main idea, problem and solution of the story. We will also use the story idea to graph our favorite characters, chart if we wore mitten or gloves and even use mittens to make a pattern book. It is a short week but it will be packed with fun activities!
Wednesday, January 18, we will have a School Family gathering. Once again our school will have multi-age classrooms for part of the morning. Our kindergarten students will have the wonderful opportunity to join with older students and share special activities. This is a positive way to spread respect throughout our school.
NWEA TIME
This week and next week, the children will be going to the computer lab to begin the winter round of NWEA testing. This fun computer activity will give us updated data in reading and math. Please encourage your child to do their best. One way to help your child to do his or her best is by having them get an adequate amount of sleep.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week we will begin a winter unit learning about animal life in winter. We will conclude the unit by celebrating Groundhog Day and hoping for good news from him! If you are visiting school, stop and see our beautiful winter mural. It is outside our door. I’m sure it will bring a smile to your face!
February kicks off “I Love to Read” month. Be watching for a letter inviting you to read to our class. I hope you can participate in this fun activity.
Have a great week!
