A PEEK AT THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 14 -18
This week, as we think about Thanksgiving and gathering of family, we will begin a new unit celebrating this special time. We will be learning about our individual families as each student will make a picture of their family and tell a story about them. The children will write what they are thankful for. These thoughtful ideas will be bound into a book to pass on to you. Val and Charlie Jahnke will share their vast knowledge of Native American culture with our students as we journey into the past to discover their way of life. A cute turkey glyph will tell what your child likes about Thanksgiving. And that just takes us to Thursday!
What excitement waits for us on Friday! It is our 50th day of school! We will have a Rock and Roll day as we move to the music of the 50s and check out life in the days of hula hoops and poodle skirts! Our day will be filled with fun math activities along with some fun surprises!
THANK YOU!
Thank you for taking time to attend conferences this past week. If you have any questions or concerns since meeting, please give me a call or stop in after school.
As I told you at conferences, I will be sending home one minute timing sheets called Alphabet and Sound Race Sheets. Please do this once or twice a day as possible. Remember, the idea is to improve your child’s rate over the year. Together we can reach the goal of 50-60 letters /minute and 40-50 sounds/minute by the end of the year. Have fun doing this together and you will see growth soon!
