KINDERGARTEN NEWS

A PEEK AT THE WEEK

Apples crunchy,
Apples sweet,
Apples are so
Good to eat!

How many words can you think of to describe apples? That is one of our jobs this week. We will be reading about apples and making books about them too. Learning about Johnny Appleseed is a favorite. Making the recipe - apple smiles - is sure to make us smile too. Sequencing apples and discovering “core secrets” are just a few of the math and science activities planned for this week of October.

LUCKY US
We are fortunate to have a number of adults work with our kindergarten students throughout the year. They provide additional support in the areas of reading and math. We are lucky to have Charlie Klimek, Grandma Lillie, Ms. Welch, Mrs. Michelle Olson, and Mrs. Hoffman helping our students during the year. These adults will work in the classroom providing support with classroom activities. They may also pull small groups of children to other areas of the school to provide support in the area of literacy instruction. What an additional benefit for our children!

HIGH FREQUENCY FLASH CARDS
Each child has in his or her kiwi pack a bag containing the high frequency words we are learning. This week I will introduce the words an, can, and, at & am. Please review these words at home. It is just fine if your child doesn’t have these words down yet, just practice together for added support. They will see the words in the stories they bring home. Enjoy!

Please keep this packet in the kiwi pack as more words will be added as they are introduced.
