A PEEK AT THE WEEK

This week we will be exploring colors and shapes. The shapes tested for our report card include circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval and diamond also called a rhombus. I know the children know most of the colors and shapes so I will be incorporating lots of reading and writing skills into this unit. We will be making more books for you and your child to read together. A fun science experiment will help us learn about mixing colors. Graphing data, singing songs and continuing to work together as a school family are all important lessons in this unit.

The children will have turns bringing books home that we have made. I include ideas to use with each book that will review skills being taught in our classroom. I hope you enjoy this time reading and learning together. Please remember to return the book the following school day so others can share the fun.

SPIRIT DAY - WEAR PANTHER COLORS ON OCTOBER 2ND

Homecoming festivities begin this week! We will attend a pep fest on Friday, October 2nd. Our school along with the high school will create a “tunnel of pride” for students to march through. We will attend the homecoming parade following this rally. The children will walk back to the school after the parade. They will be dismissed from there. Cheer on our team by wearing Panther colors on Friday!

LOOKING AHEAD

We will be beginning a fall unit next week. Topics for the next month include apples, leaves, pumpkins, bats and nocturnal animals. Fire safety lessons are also planned for the month of October. Looks like lots of learning ahead!
