FEBRUARY 2-6
A PEEK AT THE WEEK
Last Monday began the theme of No Name Calling week. Celebrating friendship and spreading kindness made for a wonderful week. Each day brought smiles to our faces as the children walked through the door dressed in their special day attire. What fun PJ day was!
Thanks parents for volunteering to read a book to our class. We are looking forward to your visit. I will contact you to confirm your date and time.
As we begin to welcome thoughts of spring, new themes involving Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, dental hygiene, I Love to Read, 100 days of school and This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land will begin.
Vocabulary words for the week are message and addition.
I00 DAYS OF SCHOOL
Can you believe February 11th marks our 100th day of school? The year is speeding by. Plans are being made to celebrate this special day too. Coming home with your child soon will be a giant 100. Have fun decorating this together anyway you would like. Send it back to school by February 11th so your child can share his/her creation with the class!
VALENTINE PARTY
Our party will be Friday, February 13. A class list has been sent home. The cards may be sent to school anytime through Valentine’s Day. Please make sure all candy/treats are individually wrapped.
PRESIDENT’S DAY
Students will not have school on February 16th. Enjoy the day off!
JOURNAL WRITING
We have been busy writing and illustrating in our journals. We are saving these for you to see the wonderful progress that they are making in printing and writing. We encourage each student to write as much as he/she is able to do on their own using inventive spelling. If you have a few moments to spare, this is a wonderful activity to do with your child. If your child isn’t able to hear all the sounds in the word he/she is trying to write, that’s ok. Ask if he/she knows the beginning, middle, and/or ending sounds then print that! This is great start to becoming a writer, so remember to praise all efforts!
Have a great week!
