A PEEK AT THE WEEK
Bats and other nocturnal animals will be our theme for the week. We will make a book about this to share with you. You might have your child save these books in their Buddy Book bags so they can read them often. Rereading “Good Fit” books helps the children with fluency. It also reinforces sight words in an easy way. We will work all year to establish the required high frequency words for kindergarten. These words will be important in helping the children begin to read simple texts. Children use these known words as “anchors” to help them check on their reading.
Tuesday we will take time to discuss our great privilege to vote for a new president. I encourage you to remember to vote not only for a president but also on the school referendum.
IMPORTANT DATES
Wednesday, November 5th and Thursday November 6th
Fall Conferences will be held from 3:15 – 8:15. I look forward to visiting with you. I will try on keep on schedule. I am scheduled every 20 minutes. If it appears that we will run longer than the 20 minute slot allowed I may ask to continue the conference at another time to allow other parents to keep to their schedule. Thank you for understanding this. Thank you also for making the first quarter of our school year successful for your child.
Friday, November 7th
No school for students. I hope you enjoy the long weekend together.
Thursday, November 13th
It is our 50th day of school! Boys and Girls - Grab your bobby socks and leather coats, roll up your blue jeans, slick back your hair or wear a pony tail! Come to school dressed in your favorite 50’s style. We plan to celebrate this day by focusing on math. I have several fun math activities planned. And of course, we will top off the day by having a sock hop!
